The Denise Richards and Her Wild Things mom says her fallout with the RHOBH alum affects her "to this day."
Denise Richards says she’s open to mending fences with Lisa Rinna — but doubts that’ll happen anytime soon.
The Denise Richards and Her Wild Things mom addressed the topic in the March 27 episode of The Julia Cunningham Show, explaining how her fallout with Lisa affected her decision to exit The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
“That was the biggest reason why I didn’t go back for a third season because it was just, well, ‘No one likes me on this show anymore,’" Denise said. “So, who would I even talk to except for Garcelle [Beauvais]? I have become really good friends with Sutton [Stracke], but at the time, I didn’t know her, so I just felt like I didn’t have any friends on the show.”
Denise on repairing her friendship with Lisa: "I don't see that happening..."
Denise and Lisa’s friendship went back more than 20 years and appeared to be going strong when Denise joined RHOBH in Season 9; however, that all changed in Season 10, which found Denise at odds with many of her castmates, including her longtime friend Lisa.
The pair, unfortunately, never resolved their issues, but Denise insisted a reconciliation was possible.
“I always say, 'Never say never,' but I don’t see that happening anytime soon,” she said before alluding to her recent truce with Erika Jayne. “I wouldn’t want to resolve stuff on a podcast, for that level of our friendship. We were friends for over 20 years, so with Erika, I had just met her on Housewives… But Rinna… that’s different.”
Denise made similar comments during the March 27 episode of Let’s Talk With Heather Dubrow, admitting her fallout with Lisa still affects her today.
“Dealing with the downfall of a very dear friend of mine — with Lisa Rinna — that was really hard for me to have to wrap my head around,” she told The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Heather Dubrow. “How could a show ruin a friendship of so many years? It was really hard, to this day.”
While she didn’t leave Housewives on the most positive note, Denise revealed she could see herself back in the franchise.
“I would. Yeah, I would,” she said about a potential RHOBH return. “I’m close to a lot of the women on the show, so that would make sense.”
Lisa expresses regret over her friendship drama with Denise
Lisa touched on her relationship with Denise during a September 2021 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Although she didn’t provide details, the RHOBH alum confessed she wasn’t happy with how things ended with Denise and expressed regret over her actions.
“I don’t like my behavior and how I treated her,” Lisa said. “I was mean, and I was cruel. I was too cruel. I absolutely was, and I would like to atone for that.”
