Teresa Giudice previously served an 11-month sentence in prison in 2015 for mail, wire and bankruptcy fraud
Teresa Giudice and Luis Ruelas are several million dollars in tax debt.
According to records obtained by PEOPLE, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star and her husband have been hit with over $3 million in tax liens, with Teresa owing $303,889.20 and Ruelas owing nearly $2.6 million.
This comes three months after Ruelas was issued another lien for $163,523.94 in December 2024, which the New Jersey Courts website shows is still an open case.
The reality star, who tied the knot with Ruelas in 2022, previously served an 11-month sentence in prison in 2015 for mail, wire and bankruptcy fraud. She has addressed her incarceration several times, saying the courts wanted to “make an example” out of her.
"I know in my heart I was not supposed to go there. I know I only went because I'm in the public eye," she said in 2022. "Listen, I'll shout it out to the world. I signed two contracts that Joe was flipping [for] two homes he was buying. That's all I did. I knew nothing about what he was doing. I mean, I have nothing to hide. Like, I did my time already, you know?"
Her ex-husband, Joe Giudice, also spent time behind bars for the same crimes, completing his 41-month sentence in 2019. When he was released, the pair separated after 20 years of marriage, and Joe moved to Italy following a deportation battle.
The following year, Teresa met Ruelas while on vacation on the Jersey Shore. The pair got engaged in 2021, and shortly before their wedding, Teresa revealed during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen After Show that she and Ruelas were not planning on signing a prenup.
"I mean, I would [sign a prenup], you know, if he said so. I'm so very easy about that," she told Cohen. "He definitely has more than me. I would never take anything from him, I'm so not like that."

Teresa Giudice and Louie Ruelas attend 2023 Variety's Women Of Reality TV on November 29, 2023 in Beverly Hills, California.
Their relationship has caused controversy among the RHONJ cast and viewers for years after allegations that he assaulted his ex-fiancée surfaced. At the time, Teresa claimed people “want to sabotage us.”
"Yeah, I've had a couple of bad relationships, but I'm sure every guy at this table has a girl that'll talk bad about you, and say something different or opposite of the truth," Ruelas said in a March 2022 episode of the Bravo show.
"There's no physical violence," he later insisted. "There's no truth to that. There's a couple of very angry exes [who are] very thirsty for attention.”
Despite rumblings that their relationship was “shaky” in the years that followed, Teresa continued to deny the rumors, continually labeling Ruelas her “soulmate.”
“I love and adore him so much,” she said during an episode of her Namaste B$tches podcast in 2023. “No, there’s nothing shaky.”
“I mean, maybe we shake together when we dance, but that’s about it,” she added. “That’s the only time we’re doing any shaking, you know?”
