Britani Bateman was reportedly demoted to a “friend” role on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season five for allegedly faking her relationship with Jared Osmond.
Amid Wednesday night’s reveal that Jared had been caught messaging Angie Katsanevas‘ eyebrow technician, denying that they were dating after seemingly going public with their romance on Instagram, an online report suggested that she was initially going to be a full-time cast member.
“Here’s why Britani was demoted. At first[,] it was going to be the OGs plus Angie and either [Bronwyn Newport] or Britani, then there was a plan for [eight] wives. However[,] Britani faked the relationship with Jared for a storyline, and was demoted,” a Mary Cosby fan page reported on X.
“Britani was described as thirsty and looking for drama, which gave the producers [an] ick. Jared stopped filming with her and she had no storyline,” the page continued. “You’ll see that Britani becomes background noise after the trip, and will do something for drama later in the season!”
As the fan page made its claims about Britani’s role, a couple of DMs written by Jared were made public in which he spoke of the relationship he had with Britani, insisting it was a romance but accusing her of using him for publicity.
“The fascinating part of Britani’s story is that she adds so much drama for no reason. Truly, in an attempt to be relevant. If you want to know the truth on our history, I have never walked away from her. I’ve always been steady, spoiled her over the last year. Paid for everything and have been a true gentleman,” he shared, noting that Britani made him out to be the bad guy because she was “damaged” from her past relationships and scared that he wouldn’t marry her.
“Rather than just steadily stay with me and work through all of the dating issues that pop us, she runs like a scared child. I need to date a stable woman,” he stated, via Bravo Breaking News on Instagram.
Jared went on to say that if it weren’t for him, Britani would have never been cast on RHOSLC.
“For the record, Britani has a job on the show because I decided to go on. I give her relevance. I give her a talking point. She promised me that we wouldn’t take our love on camera. That it would be best friends. Hence the reason for all the best friend comments,” he explained.
Then, after noting that he agreed to film under those conditions, Jared shaded Britani for making him look like a “complete idiot.”
“I’ve stepped up to give her all that she has needed to make herself relevant on the show and what I got in return was a woman that dumped me and makes me look like a complete idiot by the time this is all done,” he wrote.
