Trade pitch has Raiders giving up Tre Tucker and a Day 2 pick for 49ers breakout star Jauan Jennings — as Vegas weighs risking young talent for a rival WR with one big season under his belt - suong

The Las Vegas Raiders might be one of the most improved teams in the NFL in 2025. However, there are still areas of the roster that they should consider upgrading.

Wide receiver is one of them. Jakobi Meyers is a solid No. 1 option, but a great No. 2 option. Tre Tucker has shown some flashes, but he’s mostly a speedster who works better as a third option.

Behind those two are a bunch of young players and rookies who have limited experience. It’ll be difficult to find a true No. 1 wide receiver this late in the offseason, but the Raiders could add some more veteran depth to take the pressure off of Meyers.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings is coming off a breakout season where he caught a career-high 77 passes for 975 yards. He’s in the last year of his contract, and according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, if he doesn’t get a new one, he wants to get traded.

This led Alex Kay of Bleacher Report to pitch Jennings as a potential Raiders trade target.

“While all three prospects have potential, the Raiders need a proven weapon to feel confident in their chances of emerging from a hyper-competitive AFC West—a division that boasted three postseason teams in 2024—this coming season,” Kay wrote.

“Jennings could be exactly who Vegas needs to get over the hump and return to the playoffs for only the second time since the 2016 season. … Jennings would be a strong fit in new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly’s system.”

The Price for a Jennings Trade?

Jennings did more than double his single-season career-highs in catches and receiving yards last season, which was his fourth year in the league. It’s hard to know if he’s actually a productive wide receiver or if he just saw more targets than he normally would due to Brandon Aiyuk getting hurt early in the year.

In Kay’s trade pitch, he has the Raiders send Tucker and a third-round pick to San Francisco for Jennings.

“The receiver thrived last season with creative head coach Kyle Shanahan scheming up ways for him to get the ball in space, and Kelly could do the same if the Raiders are willing to cough up some picks and cap space to land Jennings,” Kay wrote.

“Neither asset should be much of an issue given Las Vegas has all its picks in the 2026 draft and $31.8 million in cap space at its disposal. Kicking over a late-Day 2 pick in addition to Tre Tucker—an up-and-down 2023 third-rounder who could quickly fall out of favor with the new regime in Sin City—should get the job done.”

Far Too Much for a Jennings Trade

Tucker is a recent third-round pick, so in Kay’s pitch, the Raiders are essentially giving up two third-round picks for Jennings. That would be a massive price for a wide receiver who never had more than 416 yards in a season before 2024. In fact, Tucker had 539 yards last season in his second year, and that was with much worse quarterback play than Jennings received.

A straight-up Tucker for Jennings swap might not even be a fair deal for the Raiders to make. Las Vegas is far better off seeing what their rookies can do than giving up a haul for a wide receiver who has one solid year in one of the most wide receiver-friendly offenses in the NFL.
