A PHILADELPHIA Eagles Super Bowl champion is fighting a brutal battle against a rare form of cancer.
This Eagles player helped the franchise win its first Super Bowl in 2018.
Former Eagles defensive end Bryan Braman has been combating a rare and life-threatening form of cancer since February.
The 38-year-old Washington native has had to undergo a 12-week treatment program that has hurt his finances and left him without a home.
A GoFundMe post has been made by William Jones for Braman, who is battling a "very rare form" of cancer" and has caused him to sell off his assets, which include his car, to help cover the cost of his treatments.
"Bryan is home with his family after undergoing a CAR-T cell programming treatment program in Seattle," an update on Braman's health situation read on June 20.
"With the cancer that Bryan has, which is a very rare form of cancer, the CAR-T treatment had the highest chance of success as the cells are reprogrammed to fight this cancer that is within Bryan.
"His cells did re-infuse themselves and did in fact start reproducing within his bone marrow.
"At first the mass did start to shrink, but then the cancer started fighting back.
"At this point Bryan has had to start having chemo treatments that are designed for the treatment program Bryan is in."
The GoFundMe has a target of $25,000 in order "to pay for housing for him, his caregiver, and his uncle as they all live together."
It added that Braman and his close ones "are currently paying over $100/day for their motels" and the funds will help the retired seven-year NFL vet "to rent an Airbnb to be able to rest."
Some of Braman's former teammates have donated to the donation drive.
Former Eagles players Najee Goode donated $500, and Rasul and Brent Celek both donated $1,000.
Houston Texans icon J.J. Watt also contributed to the cause, donating $10,000.
"These donations will also go a long way to help cover some of the treatment costs that are not covered by insurance," the GoFundMe update also said.
"That has greatly helped Bryan to not have to focus on those, and now he can relax and recuperate."
As for Thursday afternoon, $20,000 and counting has been raised for Braman.
Braman entered the NFL as a Houston Texans undrafted free agent in 2011.
He played with the Texans for three seasons before joining the Eagles in 2014, where he was a special teamer and posted 18 tackles during his first stint with the franchise.
Braman signed with the New Orleans Saints before the 2017 season.
But he was released and then re-signed with the Eagles in December.
Braman was part of the organization's run to a Super Bowl 52 win over the New England Patriots.
