Strictly's Tasha Ghouri 'inspires groundbreaking new dating show' with first of its kind twist - and casting is already underway - suong

Following the success of shows like Love Island and My Mum, Your Dad, a brand new exciting dating series is reportedly in the works.

The new show is set to focus on individuals who use sign language, taking inspiration from deaf celebrities who have used their platforms to raise awareness.

Former EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis, made history as the first deaf participant on Strictly Come Dancing in 2021, eventually winning the competition.

While Islander Tasha Ghouri, who had a cochlear implant fitted at five years old, made it through to the final on Sunday night (December 8).

TV bosses are reportedly on the hunt for single individuals who are deaf, use British Sign Language, or are CODAs (children of deaf adults), aged between 25-35, for the upcoming series.

An insider told The Sun: 'The creators have just put out a casting call for people in their twenties and thirties, who might like to take part.

'Though it's not clear which channel it will air on, ITV and Channel 4 are the most likely recipients because they like to explore new territory with their shows.

'As for the dating show genre, producers are always looking for new ways to look at what attracts people to one another.'

Although it is not publicly known which channel will air the show, ITV and Channel 4 are thought to be likely contenders due to their eagerness to explore novel concepts, reports The Mirror.

As for the dating show genre, producers are constantly looking for new innovative perspectives on what draws people together romantically.

It comes not long after Production company Gold Wala released an advert that reads: 'Casting is now live for a super-exciting, brand new British Sign Language dating show for a major new channel.

'We are looking for all deaf, BSL users and CODAs who are aged 25 to 35 years old, are single and up for taking part in what will be an incredibly fun, exciting opportunity.'

Tasha, who was born deaf and received her cochlear implant when she was five years old, made history as the first-ever deaf contestant on Love Island.

But Tasha admitted she 'felt like she let down the whole deaf community' as she received hundreds of cruel comments about the way she speaks following her stint on the show.

The dancer's reason for joining the dating show, as well as finding love, was to spread awareness for the deaf community - but instead she received heaps of hate.

In the very emotional interview, she told Strictly viewers: 'I remember my dad sat me down and he looked at me straight and said "Tash, there is a lot of horrific stuff that was written about you, especially on social media."

'There are videos made about my voice and the way I speak, it became a trend at one point.

'And it really, really hit me rock bottom. Because I wanted to go on for representation and I feel like I failed, not just myself but, the whole deaf community.'

Back in February, Tasha discussed the importance of normalising deaf voices during an appearance on Lorraine.

She revealed that when she took out her implant out, viewers of Love Island noticed her voice change and she was hit by a barrage of online abuse.

Tasha explained: 'When I have my implant in, I can hear my voice but when I take it out I can hear a vibration from my throat.

'I can't hear what tone it is or how loud. It's weird because when I put it back on, I go back to my normal voice.

'When I was on the show, I actually had a lot of ableism [online] about my voice and not many people understood why I spoke the way I did.'

She went on: 'That was probably the main trolling I got from it. TikToks were made about my voice, taking the mick out of it.

'That’s why when I came out I was still kind of accepting coming to terms with that and this is why I felt that this was the right time to explain why my voice may sound different.'

Tasha has used her platform to advocate for the death community and has become a vocal activist pushing for change.

Earlier this year, she published her debut romance novel titled 'Hits Different', which features a protagonist who embraces her disability as a superpower.

Rising to fame on Love Island in 2022, Tasha reached the final with partner Andrew Le Page, finishing in fourth place.

The couple are still together, with Andrew showing support by attending Strictly live shows and making surprise visits during rehearsals.
