Red Wings In The Way Of Rangers' Reunion With Patrick Kane

USATSI_20575714The one team that seems to be preventing the Rangers from signing Patrick Kane this offseason is the Detroit Red Wings.

The New York Rangers have one roadblock that is preventing the team from signing Patrick Kane: The Detroit Red Wings.

According to The New York Posts’ Larry Brooks, Kane is talking with the Red Wings about a potential contract extension.

The Rangers have been linked to the veteran forward this offseason and reportedly have interest in signing him.

Emily Kaplan of ESPN reported that Rangers general manager Chris Drury is telling teams around the league that he’s looking to clear cap space.

There’s a growing belief that the Rangers will trade captain Jacob Trouba and Drury is reportedly working on a deal that would send him to the Red Wings, potentially affecting Kane’s future.

It’s unclear what Kane is seeking in terms of term and AAV for his next contract, but if the Rangers are able to clear up more cap space before tomorrow's Free Agent Frenzy, the team will have more than enough money to lure Kane back to the Big Apple.
