Despite Igor Shesterkin making 46 saves, the Rangers still lost 3-2 to the Flames.
The New York Rangers couldn’t find a rhythm as they lost 3-2 to the Calgary Flames on Thursday night.
From the start of the night, Calgary dominated and it seemed the Rangers were not able to do anything about it.
In the first period, the Rangers were outshot 20-5 with Shesterkin being absolutely bombarded.
All hope seemed lost for New York down 2-0 in the second period, but two goals from Alexis Lafrenière and Will Cuylle 16 seconds apart from each other gave the Blueshirts some life.
In the third period though, it was more of the same. The Flames continued to control the pace of play, which led to the winning goal from Connor Zary.
By the end of the night, the Flames recorded a total of 49 shots on net.
While Igor Shesterkin kept the Rangers in the contest, his heroics weren't enough to save the team.
Once again New York was overly reliant on Shesterkin and that’s just not a healthy way to try and win hockey games.
The Rangers got outworked by Calgary and it’s just that simple.
New York will close their road trip on Saturday night against the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place.
