The Philadelphia Eagles have signed Ian Book to their practice squad with No. 1 starter Jalen Hurts in concussion protocol.
Hurts took a hit in the 36-33 loss to Washington Commanders last Sunday and his replacement, Kenny Pickett, hurt his ribs in the same game.
The 26-year-old Book, who was brought in for a visit on Christmas Day, has some familiarity with the organization. He was waived by the Eagles in August 2023 as they finalized their 53-man roster.
The Eagles didn't practice on Christmas Day but Hurts was listed as DNP and Pickett was limited.
Book arrives to support Tanner McKee, the third-choice quarterback in Philadelphia.
The Eagles face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday before rounding out the regular season against New York Giants. They need one more win to wrap up the NFC East.

Book was selected in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Saints.
The former Notre Dame star has played in just one NFL game, starting for New Orleans on Dec. 27, 2021, in a 20-3 loss to the Miami Dolphins.
He also has spent time with the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs.
Philadelphia also signed running back Lew Nichols to the practice squad and released defensive back Tariq Castro-Fields.
