Peter Laviolette Opens Up About Controversial Call That Cost The Rangers The Game

Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette spoke out in his post game news conference regarding the apparent hand pass that was allowed to continue by the Calgary Flames where the Rangers lost 3-2.

He chose to challenge the referees as Laviolette felt that this pass was an apparent hand pass that was not blown dead which is always blown dead no matter the case. His challenge was overruled.

The situation room even gave their explanation to why they decided to overturn his challenge as they felt that the puck had deflected off Jonathan Huberdeau glove which then was not deemed to hand pass and allowed Yegor Sharangovic's goal.

This game was a tough game for the Rangers as the flames outshot the blue shirts by a wide margin of 49-29. The Rangers also had 10 minutes in penalties compared to the flames where they only had two.

Rangers starting goaltender Igor Shesterkin stood on his head as he attempted to keep his team in the game. But it was to no avail as the flames got their winning goal from Connor Zary at 10:35 in the third period.

The team is currently sitting outside of the top three positions of the metropolitan which has not been seen for quite some time. The team at times has leaned on Shesterkin a little too often and has given up high shot totals to several teams early on this season.

The Rangers will conclude their western road trip as they complete it at Rogers place in Edmonton as they face off against the Oilers. This will be a fascinating game as both teams could have faced off against one another during the Stanley Cup final if circumstances were different.
