Paige DeSorbo clapped back at an influencer on TikTok after being accused of slapping her label — and a $200 price tag — on products from Alibaba for her new pajama line, Daphne.
After the influencer, Carter Martin, and many fans complained about the underwhelming selection available and questioned the high price tag of the items, the 32-year-old Summer House alum, who confirmed her exit from the series earlier this month, responded with a comment.
“Not to be a hater, but am I the only one who’s a little underwhelmed by these initial photos of Paige DeSorbo’s pajama line, Daphne?” Carter asked in a recently shared video. “Apparently, these pajama sets are like $200. It’s giving like, Daily Drills, Park, Dairy Boy, slapping a label on Alibaba, and charging $200 for it. To be honest, at least Park and Daily Drills are like cute. What is this? This is giving nothing. And if she’s really charging $200 for these, I’m just like, did we really need another one of these lines to waste our money on?”
Although Carter admitted that she wasn’t planning on buying anything from the line, she said she wasn’t talked into it by the photos.
“These pajamas look paper thin. It almost looks like all these kinds of influencer brands, there’s a formula to it. There’s a certain branding, and you get the font and you get the branding, and then you get the clothes from overseas and you slap your label on it, which, get your bag, but, I don’t know, it just felt like, a little disappointing to me,” she concluded.
Paige weighed in with a comment, denying that her sets were $200 and insisting they were not made in Alibaba.
“I’m so sorry you’re underwhelmed! They are not $200 they are also not from alibaba! Daphne is original designs, and 100% cotton. Sorry that you didn’t want to order!” she wrote to Carter.
In the comments section of the TikTok clip however, many fans agreed with Carter’s sentiments, with one person saying Paige was selling “the lamest set ever” and complaining that there was “literally no creativity at all.”
“I LOVE Paige but it’s giving TJmaxx a bit,” someone else shared.
Others said they were disappointed as they had high hopes in the fashionable Paige’s designs.
“I was expecting cutsie ruffles, frilly, lace…this just looks like a set you’d buy at Target,” one TikTok user wrote.
“I thought they would be fashionable bc that’s Paige’s whole thing but…” another agreed.
Someone else said, “I was very underwhelmed. The one white set look like a literal karate uniform [and] the $82 dress that isn’t even organic cotton lol.”
More complaints about cost also flooded in, with one user stating that an oversized T-shirt was $70.
Following Paige’s response, Carter shared a second clip, stating that while she did appreciate that everything was made with 100% cotton, Paige’s time would be better spent speaking out against the Trump Administration.
Paige has also faced criticism for not including larger plus sizes in her clothing line as a fan complained about the biggest size being a XL.
Paige however responded, assuring her supporters that larger sizes would be including in future drops.
Paige wrote, “We will have more sizes in the next drop! This was only our first drop! We are a small team and we will be adding xxs and xxl.”
Summer House season 10 is expected to begin filming sometime this summer.
