Mauricio Umansky looked back on the moment he learned he was being romantically tied to family friend and the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-star Dorit Kemsley while appearing on an episode of Carlos King‘s podcast earlier this week.

In addition to discussing Kyle Richards‘ super-sexy look for season 13, her current status with sister Kathy Hilton, and Farrah Aldjufrie‘s upcoming wedding, the Buying Beverly Hills cast member revealed his initial reaction to the “gross” rumors linking him to Paul “PK” Kemsley‘s wife.

“When I heard about it, I remember my wife walked in, I was coming out of the shower, she told me about it, and I just f-cking laughed. I don’t know what to say or what to do,” Mauricio admitted on the December 20 episode of Reality With the King. “PK’s one of my best friends. We all hang out a ton together, and if you can’t laugh at your own stuff… There’s no way I’d survive 12 seasons on [RHOBH]. You’ve gotta have thick skin.”

Kyle knows this first-hand, especially after enduring a messy falling out with Kathy on season 12, which resulted in an ongoing, months-long estrangement between them. However, after wrapping filming months ago, Mauricio confirmed Kyle is “doing great” as she prepares to return to production on season 13.

“She’s taking some much-needed time off, she’s relaxing, she’s chilling, she’s in her happy place, doing a lot of walking, [and] getting herself into shape,” Mauricio revealed. “I’ll tell you, when you guys see her, you’ve never seen a better, sexier Kyle than on the next season. She’s just been working out every single day. She’s in such good shape, and mentally, she’s getting a lot better.”

Still, when it comes to her relationship with Kathy, Mauricio said he doesn’t think they “have made up yet.”

“[I] don’t know if they will, they won’t. We obviously have some weddings to plan. So hopefully we can have all of the family together for all the family events coming up,” she continued, adding that it’s “very possible” that Farrah and Alex Manos‘ upcoming nuptials will be featured on the potential second season of Buying Beverly Hills.

Because many have felt that Mauricio and Kyle’s daughters, including Farrah and Alexia Umansky, had a major advantage in real estate due to Mauricio’s history and super-successful firm, nepotism is often discussed. And, while it may not be the easiest topic to address, Mauricio appreciated his children’s authenticity amid filming.

“I think one of the most beautiful things that they did was show their authenticity. They were vulnerable,” he noted. “I think everybody was vulnerable, but it obviously started with them, and I think that’s what makes one of these shows a great show and an entertaining show to watch — that vulnerability to make the mistakes. It’s not everybody’s perfect. It’s not everybody’s great.”

While Mauricio loved having the opportunity to film his own reality show with his daughters, all of whom he deemed as his “favorite,” he admitted that hearing about daughter Alexia’s romance and makeouts with castmate Joey Ben-Zvi, was “definitely weird.”

“I’m not gonna lie, it’s uncomfortable,” he shared. “It’s weird, especially watching it. But by the same token, it’s one of the things that’s made us closer and stronger. A lot of times, parents and kids don’t talk about things. You avoid certain conversations because they’re uncomfortable, and one of the things that reality television and this show have done is forced us to have conversations that are uncomfortable. And when you have those forced conversations, you actually get a lot closer.”

Also, on the podcast, Mauricio detailed the self-reflection that goes into being a reality star.

“You actually, for the first time in your life, watch who other people see you as being. And that’s why so many issues [arise on] reality television,” he explained. “You may not like yourself. You think you like yourself, but once you watch yourself on television, you actually realize, hold on a second, I’m not a great person.”
