A source is speaking out about Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky‘s union as the couple faces reports of a split and allegations of an “emotional affair” after 27 years of marriage.
But first, Kyle’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-star Garcelle Beauvais has spoken out about their situation, sharing what Kyle told her after the news of their reported separation first broke.
“I just texted her and said, ‘[Are you] OK?’ And she replied — I didn’t expect a reply for days — but she just said she’s hanging in there,” Garcelle shared with Page Six on July 11 at the premiere of Netflix’s Survival of the Thickest.
After an insider told PEOPLE that Kyle and Mauricio, who share daughters Alexia Umansky, 27, Sophia Umansky, 23, and Portia Umansky, 15, had been separated for a while but were continuing to live together, they released a joint statement on Instagram.
“In regards to the news that came out about us today… Any claims regarding us divorcing are untrue. However, yes, we have had a rough year,” they wrote. “The most challenging one of our marriage. But we both love and respect each other tremendously. There has been no wrongdoing on anyone’s part. Although we are in the public eye, we ask to be able to work through our issues privately. While it may be entertaining to speculate, please do not create false stories to fit a further salacious narrative.”
And since then, they’ve put up a united front, spending the Fourth of July together and being spotted with their wedding rings on. A source is now setting the record straight on the couple.
“They almost ended their marriage,” an insider revealed of Kyle and Mauricio in the latest issue of Us Weekly. “But after the [split] news broke, they decided to give their relationship some more care and are building back up their foundation.”
“[They] really want to find a way to make it work,” the source added.
Although the insider said Kyle and Mauricio have “been having issues” throughout the “last few years,” they noted that those issues “came to a head” recently.
And while Kyle and the source deny a romantic relationship between Kyle and country singer Morgan Wade, Us Weekly is reporting that those closest to Kyle believe she might have had an “emotional affair” with Morgan despite Kyle’s repeated denials.
“We are very good friends,” Kyle told a photographer last weekend, adding that while many have signaled to her and Morgan’s matching tattoos, Morgan isn’t “the only [friend she has] matching tattoos [with].”
Kyle also shot down a Page Six report that accused her of hiding her face with Morgan while out in Los Angeles.
“This photo is from April when Morgan was in town performing at my [National Alliance on Mental Illness] event for RHOBH. She is not even in California,” Kyle wrote in an Instagram comment. “And I am not hiding my face. Please stop.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast wrapped filming on season 13 in May, but they recently went back into production to capture additional scenes related to Kyle and Mauricio’s marriage drama.
