When The Valley's Brittany Cartwright returned to her and Jax Taylor's marital home to retrieve some personal belongings during Episode 2, the "floss" she found next to the bathroom sink wasn't exactly of the dental variety. There, among her estranged husband's toiletries, was an unidentified woman's white thong with a baby wipe on top.
Though Jax later attempted to explain on The Valley After Show for Season 2, Episode 2 that a "random fan" had thrown him the underwear during a bar crawl event that he and Vanderpump Rules' Tom Schwartz hosted, castmate Kristen Doute wasn't buying his excuse.
The reason? Her fiancé, Luke Broderick, was on the party bus with Jax and Schwartz. "That was bulls–t," Kristen insisted. "Nothing about that story was even true. It's not like it kind of happened… Luke's like, 'What is he talking about?'"
After Nia Sanchez Booko pointed out that "Jax is really good at making up stories," Kristen agreed that he's had the ability to "create the craziest narratives" since the day they met. After rattling off disputed claims about Jax's college years and Navy deployment to Afghanistan, among others, she called out his ability to wildly detail "the most elaborate story you've ever heard," instead of giving the truthful, oftentimes much simpler, explanation.
How Brittany Cartwright reacted to the thong in Jax Taylor's bathroom
During the April 22 episode, Brittany said she thought she was looking at a COVID mask at first, but, upon "more investigation," realized there was a "gross" thong on the bathroom counter. "I f–kin' hate him," the mom to 4-year-old Cruz Michael Cauchi told Janet Caperna and Michelle Saniei of her ex.
"Basically, some nasty girl was in my marital home and used my son's baby wipe to wipe her coo-coo before she went and had sex with Jax — in my bed, I'm sure," she later theorized to a disgusted Lala Kent on the After Show.
As for Jax's "random fan" at a bar crawl explanation, which Brittany said he swore to her that Schwartz could confirm, she added, "Of course he has lies upon lies."
Tom Schwartz debunked Jax Taylor's thong story
Unfortunately for Jax, Schwartz seemed to be hearing about the infamous baby wipe thong for the first time on the After Show.
"What happened?!" he asked, before denying that people were "throwing their thongs around on the party bus."
When Jax clarified that "one girl just handed [him] a thong," Jesse Lally chimed in, "Ah, see, the story changes..."
Still, Jax doubled down, claiming that he'd tucked the underwear in his fanny pack during the fan event. "I would be honest," he continued, before referencing his night with a "friend" named Paige in Episode 2. "I would say I had a girl at the house — because I did have a girl at the house. I did. So, I would just say it was hers. But it's not."

The random "basic-ass thong" was particularly offensive, as Lala pointed out on the After Show, because Jax and Brittany had agreed on "rules for each other" amid their ongoing separation and divorce: no hookups in the "marital home" and no bringing dates around Cruz.
"There were just two rules," Lala stated. "She followed the rules; he didn't."
During the April 22 episode of The Valley, however, Jax didn't exactly agree that Brittany had abided by their agreement.
"I know I invited Paige over — and I know that's one of the rules I wasn't supposed to break — but she was breaking the rules, too," he said in a confessional, referencing Brittany's casual relationship with his friend, Julian. "The rules were, you know, nobody that we knew."
Though Jax told her that Paige stayed "in his spare bedroom," Brittany fired back, "She has a house. Why couldn't you go there? That was our one rule."
