Tom Brady's status as the greatest quarterback to ever play football has remained unquestioned since he won his seventh Super Bowl ring. However, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will have a strong case if he's able to become the first quarterback to win three straight Super Bowls on Sunday.
Even with Brady's greatness, he never was able to three-peat. There are many who are considering that Mahomes will overtake Brady as the greatest quarterback ever with a win in Super Bowl LIX but not everybody is willing to make that leap.
Brady will still have seven Super Bowl rings to Mahomes' four and that's enough for people to still choose the former over the latter.
Former Las Vegas Raiders and current Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was asked in an interview with Athlon if Mahomes wins, does that make him the best quarterback ever?
"No," Jacobs said with hesitation. "I'm not going to lie, Brady has what six? Seven? No bro, what are we talking about?
While Jacobs doesn't think Mahomes can be named the greatest ever yet, he's open to the idea in the future.
"He’s got to win a couple more but he’s definitely in the conversation for sure," Jacobs said.
