After just winning the Presidents Trophy the following season and making their way to the Eastern Conference Finals in three season, the New York Rangers and many of their fans expected more from them this year, in hopes that a Stanley Cup would be coming back to New York.
However, the Rangers have officially been eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs contention, despite all of General Manger Chris Drury's major trades and efforts to get the team into the playoffs.
 
Definitely a season that could ultimately cost both head coach Peter Laviolette and even General Manager Chris Drury their jobs, but certainly some positives as goaltender Igor Shesterkin posted a .903 save percentage and a 2.91 GAA through 60 games with a struggling team in front of him.

Honestly, this isn't a surprising answer given just how competitive Shestekrin is, and ever since taking over as the primary goaltender for the New York Rangers, the former Vézina Trophy winner has always had high standards, and even holds his team to higher standards.
