Eagles Latest Saquon Barkley Move Ripped By Critics As 'Moronic' - suong

At first glance, the Philadelphia Eagles' decision to give Saquon Barkley a two-year extension worth over $41 million just a year removed after signing him to a three-year deal in the first place was a stroke of genius for the franchise.

No free agent had made quite as much of an impact during Barkley's first year with the team than the Eagles. The former New York Giant ran for over 2,000 yards this season (the ninth running back in league history to accomplish the feat) and set a new NFL record for total rushing yards including playoffs in a single season.

It's a fair reward for a job well done that figures to have a positive impact on the locker room as they watch GM Howie Roseman and ownership do their thing.

Believe it or not, though, the debate still rages if the Eagles were smart to give the reigning Offensive Player of the Year an extra money on his deal at age 28.

One such person, a New York Giants fan and radio host at WFAN New York, is making sure  the world knows he isn't buying into the celebration in Philadelphia.

"Good for Saquon, but what a dumb contract," Shaun Morash said via Twitter. "First Bryce Huff last year now $20 mil per for an aging back. 'Howie Roseman Genius' talk can be hit on pause for a long long time."

Morash would later double down on the take, stating, "You pay a free agent for what they are about to become not what they just did. Saquon’s season was amazing, 2025 cap space amazing, guaranteed money in 2027/2028 for this kind of player is MORONIC."

Of course, Morash was the person most critical of Barkley due to him leaving the Giants after six seasons with the team and only one playoff victory. Morash would repeatedly say on WFAN that the Eagles would not win the Super Bowl because Barkley was a losing player.

That, of course, didn't happen.

And it's only made the debate surrounding his own extension even more hilarious.
