The Cleveland Browns own the No. 2 overall pick in April's NFL Draft, and they're in dire need of a franchise quarterback. It sounds like a broken record that repeats itself every April, but it's true.
After the news of Deshaun Watson's second Achilles tear that most likely has him out for all of the 2025 season, the Browns are in a good position to find a signal caller with that No. 2 pick.
Miami's Cam Ward and Colorado's Shedeur Sanders are expected to be the first two quarterbacks off the board in April, and with Tennessee picking No. 1, it's unclear which one, if not both, will be available.
There is a good chance both will be good NFL quarterbacks, but the question is, which one will fit in Cleveland?
It may be a moot point, as ESPN Cleveland's Tony Grossi shared a bold opinion on Sanders on X.
"If the Browns don’t have their HC & OC at Shrine Bowl it tells me they are not that interested in Shedeur Sanders," Grossi wrote. "Yes, they will meet at Combine. But if you’re really interested, you take advantage of EVERY oppy to interact with him."
To this point, reports are that Cleveland has no plans to meet with Sanders outside of the NFL Combine. That doesn't mean it can't schedule something in the future.
If the Browns think Sanders has no interest in playing for them, it still might not sway their draft strategy. And the draft is not the only avenue to find a quarterback for next season and beyond.
There's always free agency, or there could be a combination of both. Either way, Browns fans are on the edge of their seats until that name is called in April.
