The New York Islanders have recalled Isaiah George from the Bridgeport Islanders. The move indicates that Alexander Romanov will not play tonight. He will miss his fifth game out of the last six. Mike Reilly remains sidelined for the contest as well. Samuel Bolduc saw himself waived and demoted after a bad game against the New York Rangers on Sunday afternoon
George then raised his level even higher for the playoffs, scoring four goals and 12 points in just 18 games. His upside is seen now as a solid top-four defenseman who can move the puck and use his smooth skating to his advantage.
George’s preseason continued his rise among Islanders’ prospects. He showed a strong ability to keep up with the NHLers for the second straight season while not looking too uncomfortable. He’s continued his momentum in Bridgeport; he has one goal and two points through four games.
George will likely skate alongside Grant Hutton to start on the third pair, with both receiving some sheltered minutes to avoid being overly exposed.
