The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the eighth overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft with one game left in the 2024 season.
Fans have been disappointed with this because the team held the number one pick just a couple of weeks ago, but back-to-back irrelevant wins late in the season have pushed them back.
Raider Nation was calling for the team to tank so they could draft quarterbacks Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward with their pick, but it is unlikely that they will still be available if their draft position holds. However, recent news that another intriguing quarterback will declare for the draft, meaning Las Vegas' chances of getting a quarterback for the future have now skyrocketed.
Alabama's Jalen Milroe officially declared for the NFL Draft on Thursday, and the Raiders are currently one of the favorites to draft him, as revealed in a recent 33rd Team Mock Draft. Milroe has been linked to the Raiders and New York Giants in their two most recent mocks, as both teams have been missing a playmaker at quarterback for a few years now.
While Sanders and Ward are still the better options on the board, Milroe's style of play looks like it would fit what the Raiders do on offense. Milroe threw for 6,016 passing yards and 45 touchdowns in his college career, and he did not start until the 2023 season.
While he struggled more in 2024, his mobility and rushing abilities make him a good fit for the Raiders' offense, which has been the weak link the past fews years while All-Pro pass rusher Maxx Crosby and the defense have held up their end of the bargain.
If Las Vegas holds on to their eighth overall pick or moves up in the order, the chances of being able to draft Milroe are high.
