The Los Angeles Angels could be in line for some offensive help, and they'd have New York Yankees to thank.

After winning the American League pennant, but getting humbled in the World Series, the Yankees have flipped their roster upside-down. And Gleyber Torres, their two-time All-Star second baseman, doesn't appear to have a spot moving forward.

Though Torres finished the 2024 season with a 101 OPS+, it felt all along as though it would be his last in the Bronx, as his defense has aged poorly and he commits an alarming number of mental gaffes.

But assuming Torres is done with the Yankees, he's still a useful player. Where will he sign next?

In a recent Instagram video, content creator Steven Russell predicted that Torres would land with the Los Angeles Angels, who are coming off a last-place finish in the American League West and could surely use the extra offense.

"One thing I can tell you is Gleyber Torres is not going back to the Yankees," Russell said.

"I don't know why, but he just feels like an Angels signing. Potential high-upside play that's also kinda risky."

In his seven-year career, Torres has slashed 265/.334/.441, good for a 112 OPS+. He's never quite reached the highs of his 2019 season when he clubbed 39 home runs and made his second All-Star team, but he's had very productive seasons, most recently in 2023.

Torres is projected for a three-year, $45 million contract (The Athletic), which the Angels can surely afford if they're willing to keep spending this winter. They already gave more than that to Yusei Kikuchi, so why wouldn't open their wallets for Torres?
