Time is running out for Will Levis as a Tennessee Titan. After Cam Ward’s Pro Day, it is clear he is the selection for the Titans first overall pick. Add in the fact that they signed Brandon Allen, and Tennessee has no need to keep Levis.
As the 2025 NFL Draft gets closer, and teams evaluate who could be around where they pick, there are a few teams in need of a quarterback that could miss out.
This presents the Titans with the chance to trade Will Levis.

Tennessee Titans Trade Will Levis to the Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions don’t have a pressing need at the quarterback position with Jared Goff under center. But it’s the future after Goff that they have to start preparing for, and to accomplish that they initiate a trade for Will Levis.
Will Levis Proposed Trade:
Tennessee Titans Receive: 2025 5th Round Pick
Detroit Lions Receive: Will Levis
Will Levis Career Stats
It hasn’t necessarily been a highlight start for Will Levis. He has thrown for 3,899 yards and 21 touchdowns across 654 drop backs. It’s not horrible, but his 61% completion rate and 16 touchdowns showcase his sporadic play that had cost the Titans numerous times.
His rushing ability provides hope for Levis’ potential as his dual-threat ability has led to him having 240 yards and a touchdown. That rushing ability wasn’t necessarily used to the fullest ability in Tennessee, but Levis showcased in college at Kentucky with 1,174 yards and 17 touchdowns across four seasons that it can be an impactful advantage.
Will Levis to Be the Detroit Lions Starting Quarterback
Jared Goff is still under contract with the Lions until 2029, but it’s becoming clear that Detroit has reached the ceiling on their potential with Goff under center.
The Lions will have a new offensive coordinator in John Morton for 2025 as he replaces Ben Johnson. Morton spent the 2023 and 2024 season as the pass game coordinator for the Denver Broncos. The two quarterbacks he worked with during that time were Russell Wilson and Bo Nix, meaning he is used to working with a dual-threat quarterback.
Goff doesn’t have that type of rushing ability, which has handicapped Detroit’s offense at times. By trading for Levis, they get a player that better fits that mold.
Goff would undoubtedly be the starter for 2025, but trading for Levis now allows the Lions to get him while his value is low, and a season to sit and learn would benefit him. For Detroit, if Goff struggles again, they already have his replacement in Will Levis.
