Why Patriots veteran called Stefon Diggs 'a freak'

Stefon Diggs signed his new contract with the New England Patriots while recovering from an ACL tear.

It sounds like the Pats shouldn't be too worried.

Diggs has received praise for his quick recovery.

Patriots veteran tight end Austin Hooper is one of the guys who has noticed.

"He's a freak," Hooper told ESPN.

Why?

"You can see him already with the explosion, the change of direction, the top-end (speed). It's like, 'Dang, it must be nice,'" Hooper said.

Diggs played the first eight games of the 2024 season with the Texans before his season-ending injury.

The former Buffalo Bills star is back in the AFC East.

He's one of two former Bills wideouts to sign with New England, along with Mack Hollins.

They join a receiver room of younger guys hoping to instill a veteran presence and leadership.

Diggs, of course, also hopes to still be productive. His relationship with second-year QB Drake Maye will be crucial.

And to get that to the best place possible, Diggs needs to be healthy and back on the field. Sounds like he's right on his way.
