“We called her that every single day” – Dumped Islander spills on the bizarre nickname given to Love Island fan-favourite Shakira inside the villa… and it’s nothing like what you’d expect - suong

Shakira has been everyone’s favourite Love Island 2025 girlie from the start, and her fellow Islanders have given her a very strange nickname in the villa.

After getting dumped, Megan spoke to Closer Online and revealed that all of the boys and girls call her “Slug”. Yes, you heard that right, “Slug.” Um, why?!

Well, it’s all because she absolutely loves the pool, and according to Megan, she’s swimming around in it for most of the day.

Speaking about the weird things people requested on Love Island, she said: “Shakira requested lilos every day for the pool. She loved that pool. We called her ‘Slug’.”

“Whenever she was in the pool it was ‘Slug time’. I don’t think she’s got her lilos yet. She would’ve looked so fit just lying on a lilo relaxing,” Megan added.

I’m not sure what slugs have to do with swimming pools. Maybe it was the way she swam through the water? Who knows.

People are sharing a few theories in the comments, with one person writing: “It’s because slugs are sticky so she’ll just stick to the pool and always be around the pool.”

“Because don’t slugs go in water like if u have a bowl of water in your garden they will go in it? I think thats correct,” another suggested.

Someone else added: “Like sluggish – lazy, slow-moving. It was probably her lazy relaxation time.”

Megan went on to reveal Meg’s weird request too, chocolate and a fizzy drink to eat and drink every day while she’s getting ready for the evening.

Apparently, it gives her a bit of a “sugar kick” before they go out, which the dumped Islander said is so “iconic”.

“She’d be there, makeup brush in one hand and a bar of chocolate in the other,” Meg explained. I wish they’d show all of this in the actual series.
