Trusted New York Rangers Insider reveals two unexpected candidates to join Mike Sullivan's coaching staff

The chances of any person outside of the ranks of good old boy clubs of coaching candidates seem to be slim to none lately. Like any good job candidate, you have to have a good network, and for Joe Sacco, and David Quinn they have a connection to the New York Rangers by prior experience, name alone, or through Mike Sullivan.Mike Sullivan

The New York Rangers hurriedly hired "Premier coach" Mike Sullivan as soon as the paint dried on Peter Laviolette's "You're Fired" sign.
Now, as the new regime takes shape in New York, Sullivan will fill out the positions left in a vacuum as Laviolette's remnants find a new spot in the Rangers organization or find work elsewhere.
As we've seen with Rangers' former assistant Dan Muse, he'll be leading the Penguins into the rebuild.

While Sullivan will be looking for coaches who can produce wins, he is looking at familiar faces we've seen before.
One of those is former Rangers head coach David Quinn, who once coached the team from 2018-2021.
Quinn was already a part of Sullivan's staff in Pittsburgh, and if rehired, should be a familiar face to many on the team already, including JT Miller, Mika Zibanejad, and Chris Kreider.
While former Bruins Head Coach Joe Sacco, who produced a dismal record with a roster worn down through attrition and bad management, could end up offering his talents as an assistant in New York.
In Boston, he had a record of 62-25-30-7, and wasn't able to have the interim tag removed as he couldn't attain the kind of success he wanted to with a roster squandered by mismanagement.
Now, we'll see if he gets the job in New York and can learn from Sullivan in the hopes of one day leading his own team again as he did the Bruins and Avalanche before.
David Quinn's record in New York wasn't terrible, but wasn't great either: 208-96-87-25, .522.
It'll be interesting to see who sticks around after the interviews has conclulded.
