TOM Brady is reuniting with an old teammate on his new squad.
Tom Brady is rebuilding the Las Vegas Raiders roster with some help from one of his former guards.
The Raiders have signed guard Alex Cappa to a two-year, $11.2 million deal this offseason.
His contract includes $5.5 million fully guaranteed at signing.
Cappa was drafted in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Humboldt State by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Since 2019, he has started every game he appeared in, playing in 102 games.
He notably was one of Brady's protectors during the Buccaneers' Super Bowl run in 2020.
Cappa moved to the Cincinnati Bengals in 2022, where he has played the last three seasons.
Getting a new offensive lineman was an important move for the Raiders, as they left their quarterbacks in hell during the 2024 season.
The team was top 10 in the NFL, allowing 50 sacks against their quarterbacks.
However, Cappa might not help too much as he had a rough 2024 season.
He was rated as one of the least effective guards in the league, allowing eight sacks over the course of the season, likely why the Bengals released him.
Perhaps a change of scenery is what's needed to get him back into form.
Raiders fans aren't sure if this move is going to work out though, and shared their thoughts on social media.
"He was graded THE WORST o-linemen last year. I would sign a street lamp over this guy," one fan said.
"I’m so sorry Raiders fans," another fan said.
"Y'all need a real O-Line before you need a quarterback," a third fan said.
"Hopefully our new QB can scramble because if not he’s done for with that guy blocking," a fourth fan said.
"He better be depth nothing more," a fifth fan said.
There is a high chance that the Raiders draft a quarterback this offseason.
If they do, they need to put together a very strong offensive line to keep them safe.
