Todd and Julie Chrisley have been pardoned by President Donald Trump in their ongoing bank fraud and tax evasion case.
“It’s a terrible thing but it’s a great thing, because your parents are going to be free and clean,” Trump, 78, said to Todd and Julie’s daughter Savannah Chrisley via a phone call shared via X on Tuesday, May 27. “I hope we can do it by tomorrow. I don’t know them, but give them my regards. Wish them a good life.”
Trump claimed that Todd and Julie were given “pretty harsh treatment.” He added, “Congratulate your parents. I hear they’re terrific people. This should not have happened. … They have good children. You’re no longer children, but I’ll say it anyway. They have good children, don’t they?”
Todd, 55, and Julie, 52, were first indicted in 2019 on charges of tax evasion, bank and wire fraud and conspiracy. In January 2023, the couple reported to prison to serve a combined 19-year sentence after being found guilty.
Julie was initally sentenced to seven years, while Todd received 12 years. However, later that year, their sentences were each reduced by nearly two years. The couple — and their children — have continued to work on appealing the court’s decision in an effort to leave prison earlier.
Us Weekly has reached out to the Chrisley family for comment.
Earlier this year, Savannah, 27, claimed that the Chrisley Knows Best stars “don’t get to speak” to each other amid their prison sentence. (Along with Savannah, the couple share sons Chase, 28, and Grayson, 19. Todd is also dad to daughter Lindsie, 35, and son Kyle, 33, from his previous marriage to Terresa Terry. Since Todd and Julie went to prison, Savannah has been raising Kyle’s daughter, Chloe.)
“It’s been two years, and they haven’t spoken a word to each other,” Savannah claimed to People in February. “They’ve been together almost 30 years, and they’ve never gone a day in their life without being with one another. That’s been a challenge. That should never happen.”
