The Sweet Way Melissa Gorga’s Son Handled an In-Person Encounter with Teresa and Gia-quang

Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice are doing what they can to keep their kids out of their ongoing feud.

Teresa Giudice and sister-in-law Melissa Gorga may be in a constant state of mutual loathing — but Melissa is ensuring her children are kept out of the bad blood.

When Melissa, her husband, Joe Gorga, and the couple’s youngest son, Joey, arrived in the locker room at the charity Battle for Brooklyn softball game on The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 14, Episode 4, they encountered Teresa and her oldest daughter, Gia Giudice.

The boutique owner didn’t have any words for Teresa herself, but she made sure her son offered his relatives a greeting.

“Go give your aunt a kiss hello,” she instructed him.

Joey immediately walked over and gave Teresa a sweet hug.

“Hi, Joey, how are ya?” Teresa asked him, as she kissed his cheek.

“Good, how are you?” he replied.

Gia also stepped forward to give her cousin a hug.

Do Melissa Gorga’s kids still talk with Teresa’s family?

Although Melissa and Teresa have been feuding on and off since Melissa joined the show in Season 3, Melissa told Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on May 12 the relationship is now officially “over.”

"The gloves are off, the masks are off — you might as well stop asking me. It's not happening anymore .. it's so over,” she said of the ongoing rift.

As for whether the fallout has impacted the relationship her three children have with Teresa and cousins Gia, Gabriella, Milania, and Audriana, Melissa acknowledged that although the family’s dynamics have obviously shifted, the cousins do keep up with each other.

"They text 'happy birthday' and all of that," she told Andy. "They don't hang out, but they text."

In a separate interview in April with NBC’s TODAY, Melissa admitted the drama does have some impact on the kids.

"It unfortunately trickles down," she said. "It's sad and you know, I think everyone's moved on pretty much but [the kids] keep in touch.”

Teresa echoed a similar sentiment in her own appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in February 2023, saying the cousins still “text” and “communicate on social media.”

“That’s all I know,” she said.

What is the Battle for Brooklyn Charity game?

On RHONJ, Joey had the impromptu reunion with his aunt and cousin at the Battle for Brooklyn charity softball game, an event hosted by Dolores Catania to benefit the Maimonides Medical Center’s cancer center.

“This is my third year hosting the Battle for Brooklyn softball game,” Dolores explained. “We raise more money every single year for Maimonides hospital and it’s such a beautiful event.”

The annual game had the Housewives and their families pitted against a team representing the hospital.

“Hi, everybody. Today we’re supporting these doctors and nurses and staff that save lives every day. Let’s give a big hand for them,” she told the crowd at the start of the game. “These are the real heroes here. So let’s play ball!”

This year was particularly special for Dolores because she was playing in honor of close friend and The Real Housewives of Miami cast member Guerdy Abraira, who faced her own battle with breast cancer last year.
