‘Summer House’ Star Carl Radke Shares ‘Raw & Unfiltered’ Details in His Memoir ‘Cake Eater’-quang

“Summer House” star Carl Radke announced his debut memoir on March 13, set to be released in December of this year. Explaining the title of the book, “Cake Eater,” Radke explained in his Instagram post, “Being from the South Hills of Pittsburgh in Upper St. Clair and other locals will know that Cake Eater is a privileged upper middle-class person who is handed everything.”

He continued, “While I was called this many times, that wasn’t my reality. My book dives into my childhood, my family, my life in the public eye, my recovery and how I’m here today.”

“Releasing a book this raw and unfiltered is, at times, incredibly scary, but the stories in this book were vital lessons, incredible memories and oftentimes, dark moments that I haven’t been vulnerable about before. This book is also a tribute to those who loved, shaped, and cared for me when I needed them most,” Radke wrote in his Instagram post.

Radke’s “Summer House” castmates celebrated his announcement, with Paige DeSorbo replying, “YESSSSS CARL.” Ciara Miller wrote, “Awwwww Congrats Carl.” Amanda Batula responded, “So proud.”

Radke’s Memoir Will Center Around the Struggles He Has Overcome

According to Radke’s publisher, Simon & Schuster, “Cake Eater” will cover the “Summer House” star’s journey to sobriety during his time as a public figure.

The book will also cover other hard-hitting topics, such as Radke’s brother Curtis passing away in August 2020, which fans saw play out in “Summer House” season 5.

“With unfiltered honesty, he takes readers through the highs and lows, from career shifts and family dynamics to finding peace in his recovery. Each chapter dives into the hard-earned lessons he’s gathered, proving that life can be fulfilling — even without a drink,” Simon & Schuster described.

The description continued, “Whether processing grief, navigating sober relationships, or confronting the public’s perceptions, Carl’s journey is one of resilience, growth, and self-discovery.”

“Cake Eater” is 300 pages long and will be available for $29.99 on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, and Bookshop.

Radke Credits ‘Summer House’ for Helping Him With His Sobriety

Radke told The New York Times in 2024 that he was inebriated during many seasons of “Summer House.” However, after deciding to quit drinking, looking back on those moments helped him with his sobriety.

“I’d like to think the show saved my life — seriously, I don’t know if I would have ever seen myself behave. I always thought that it was like, fun, people liked being around me, but over time, that wasn’t the case,” he said.

The reality star channeled his energy into building a sober bar in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, set to open at a yet-undisclosed date.

In January, Radke revealed in his Instagram Stories that the bar was still undergoing construction, as shared by Bravo.

“We will be popping up in NY soon, and our flagship location in early 2025 Brooklyn, NY. There’s so much more I want to share, but I will do that very soon,” he teased in August 2024.
