The production team of Strictly Come Dancing could risk a row with the team behind a new Paul Mescal movie being filmed next door.
Hamnet, an upcoming historical drama film set to be released next year, is being shot just next to where Strictly is filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. The 28-year-old Irish actor plays Shakespeare in the movie, which is named after Hamnet, the poet's only son who died aged 11.
Other members of the cast include Jessie Buckley, Joe Alwyn and Emily Watson. But an insider has now said the fact that the movie is being filmed just next to Strictly's studios is creating some tensions. Special sound barriers have been reportedly erected between the two studios as Strictly dancers rehearse to loud music. An insider said that while the cast and crew have seen "the funny side", the proximity of the two studio has also been "frustrating" at times.
They told The Sun: "There have been some bizarre moments where actors in full Tudor dress have performed on 16th century-style sets with Gangnam Style blaring behind them. Obviously the cast and crew have seen the funny side but it has been frustrating at times. It's all part of the joy of having contrasting productions existing shoulder to shoulder on shared studio spaces." But the insider also claimed that the film's creators contacted Strictly producers to warn them that they are preparing to film a rowdy scene when the first live show of the dance series airs on Saturday night.
Earlier today, we reported that Tasha Ghouri collapsed on the floor during her Strictly Come Dancing rehearsals. The Love Island star is putting on her dancing shoes for the competition show alongside other well known celebs. She has partnered up with professional Aljaz Skorjanec but it looks like he is putting her through her paces.
Tasha took to TikTok where she shared a funny video as she pretended to collapse on the floor due to fatigue from the intense rehearsals. Aljaz featured on the clip where he repeatedly asked Tasha "another one, thank you" as the camera cut to Tasha looking rather tired.
She captioned the clip "when in rehearsals" alongside a series of laughing emojis. Tasha then added: "But on a serious note, I'm loving it." The 26-year-old Love Island star, who was born deaf, was announced as part of the 2024 celebrity line-up last month. She rose to fame after appearing in the 2022 season of the ITV2 dating show as the programme's first deaf contestant.
