The RHOBH daughter said she's no longer pursuing a career in real estate: "I might again, but right now I’m not.”
Sophia Umansky has changed her career path.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills daughter shared the big news during a recent Amazon Live stream with her mom, Kyle Richards, and big sisters, Alexia Umansky and Farrah Brittany. At one point during the April 28 broadcast, a viewer asked if Sophia was still working for The Agency, a luxury real estate brokerage founded by her father, Mauricio Umansky.
“Well, she was working at The Agency,” Kyle began.
“Well, not currently,” Sophia added. “I was exploring [real estate] and I might again, but right now I’m not.”
Sophia did not share any more details about her career, including other fields she might pursue.
The RHOBH daughter joined the Umansky Team about a year after earning a psychology degree from George Washington University. She was hired as a marketing assistant and helped run the team’s social media pages alongside real estate agent Maddie Buffardi.
Mauricio spoke about the family business during a 2022 interview with People magazine, explaining how he achieves a healthy home-and-work-life balance while employing his kids.
“When you’re working with your family, you can bring all of that stress with you,” he said. “We’re a very tight, close family, we always have been… I can tell you I’m a different boss than I am a father. There’s no question about that.”
Kyle and Mauricio also share a 17-year-old daughter, Portia Umansky, who recently started to tour colleges. During Kyle’s latest Amazon Live stream, a fan asked if Portia had any interest in pursuing a real estate career like her dad and older sisters.
“No,” Alexia said. “I think she’s got other plans, very cool plans, but I won’t expose them.”
“She’s very entrepreneurial,” Farrah said about Portia. “She’ll probably start her own business.”
Kyle then recalled a moment that underscored Poritia’s business-driven mindset.
“The other day she was pacing back and forth, and I thought, ‘Why is Portia on a business call?’” Kyle said. “She was literally on a business call… She had all these great ideas, and I’m like, this girl is so smart. But I think she knows she would always have that option (to do real estate) if she wanted to, maybe. But you can’t succeed in this business (real estate) unless you’re passionate about it. So, I want her to do what she’s passionate about, obviously.”
