The Seattle Seahawks claim that their starting quarterback Geno Smith is healthy and he was listed as full participant at practice all week going into today's game against the Minnesota Vikings. However, just in case he isn't quite 100%, on Saturday they made a roster move to boost their depth at quarterback.

The team announced yesterday that they have signed former Vikings quarterback Jaren Hall to the active roster off the practice squad. Hall played his college ball at BYU, where he enjoyed a breakout 2022 Senior season. He totaled 3,171 passing yards, 31 touchdowns, six interceptions and a 160.8 rating.

That was good enough to get Hall picked by Minnesota in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL draft. He played two games for Minnesota last season while Kirk Cousins was injured, posting a 65% completion rate, 168 yards, zero touchdowns, one interception and a QBR of 5.1. The Vikings waived him at the end of the 2024 preseason and the Seahawks signed him to their practice squad a few days later.

Hall will be a distant third option on the quarterback depth chart, even though primary backup Sam Howell struggled in the second half last week against the Green Bay Packers following Smith's knee injury that put him on the sidelines.

The Seahawks have also elevated cornerback Artie Burns from the practice squad. Burns provides experience and depth outside and in the slot behind Devon Witherspoon. To make room on the 53-man roster the team has placed outside linebacker Trevis Gipson on injured reserve.
