Rumours swirl Sonia Kruger will 'jump ship from Channel Seven to Nine' to host new Golden Bachelor series

She is one of Seven's biggest stars.

And now reports have surfaced that Gold Logie winner Sonia Kruger is getting ready to jump ship to Network Nine.

The ageless beauty, 58, has been tipped by insiders as the host of Nine's new dating show The Golden Bachelor, launching a 'bidding war' between the rival networks.

'The word on the street is that Sonia could reboot The Golden Bachelor on Channel Nine in 2025,' an insider told Yahoo Lifestyle on Wednesday.

'Channel Nine loved working with Sonia and everyone would welcome her back with open arms. There is a real bidding war which will see two networks keen to lock her services down in the new year.'

According to the source, the cancellation of Seven's Big Brother, which Sonia hosted, has left a 'hole' in the fan favourite's contract that 'needs to be filled'.

The Golden Bachelor is a spin-off of The Bachelor format and focuses on 'seniors' looking for romance. It was launched in the U.S. last year to blockbuster ratings.

The format return comes after Channel 10 axed The Bachelor, hosted by Osher Günsberg in May.

The insider also said that fans can expect Nine to deliver a major makeover to the format.

'The Bachelor is going to look very different to how Network 10 has been making the show,' they said, adding that executives are hoping that with Sonia hosting, the reality series will have 'class'.

They added that Nine was hoping that the Golden Bachelor would be as 'big as MAFS'.

Sonia last worked for Nine as host of Big Brother a decade ago.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted both Nine and Seven for comment.

Sonia Kruger delivers 'nasty' dig at TV legend Daryl Somers
Aussie Bachelor franchise host Osher Günsberg confirmed in May that his two Channel 10 programs The Bachelor and The Masked Singer have no plans to return to screens anytime soon.

Following the axing, TV Blackbox reported last month that Nine will be formally announcing an Australian version of The Golden Bachelor at its yearly Upfronts event in October.

The original series, which screened on ABC in the US, starred 72-year-old Gerry Turner, a retired restauranteur and widower.

Gerry chose to propose to 70-year-old Theresa Nist and the network aired their wedding as a live special.

Despite the fanfare, the couple divorced three months later.

The series proved to be a ratings juggernaut for ABC, with the finale hitting 6.1 million American screens, giving the franchise its highest numbers in three years.

Its premiere episode also set ratings records for ABC, as reported by Deadline , debuting as the highest-rated premiere on Hulu for any series in the franchise, and as ABC's number one series premiere ever on the streaming platform Live+3.

The publication also reported that the strength of the Golden Bachelor has seen the franchise expand again with ABC announcing The Golden Bachelorette.

When contacted by Daily Mail Australia, a spokesperson for Channel Nine said they wouldn't be confirming their programming lineup for 2025 until the Upfronts event.
