Season 9 of The Real Housewives of Potomac is a bit of a return to form. No, it’s not as great as some earlier seasons, but it’s making up for what fans were treated to last year. Of course, Wendy Osefo is a significant part of that growth so far. Now, the RHOP star is opening up about her beliefs about Mia Thornton and what’s next for her on the show. Plus, she’s stepping back into teaching but doing it her own way.
Regarding Mia, this season has been fairly controversial for her. Not only is she in a new relationship and living in the same building as Gordon Thornton, but she is also publically questioning the paternity of one of her kids. Many fans have said that her storylines don’t fit with a show like RHOP. In fact, many have quoted Nene Leakes‘ iconic line about declassing the show.
Recently, Wendy appeared on Way Up with Angela Yee to promote RHOP. While there, Angela asked her about the drama with Mia and what she thinks about her storylines this season. Specifically, they discuss how Mia felt attacked by the cast when they questioned her protection of her kids.
Wendy responded, “When I first heard it I said to myself, ‘I wanna give her the benefit of the doubt’ because my thought process is that every mother would do everything in their power to protect their kids.”
She goes on, “However, as the season progressed and actions were taken, I have questions. I don’t stand by the things that she does, as you guys will see it play out during the season.”
Wendy explains, “There are some things that I’m like ‘if your first priority is this, then you’re not moving like that. So, that’s the honest to God truth. I defended her when were were all at the hatitude party… but baby, when you start moving a certain type of way, I can’t defend that.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Wendy also discussed her time on the show and her future on Bravo. She says, “We’ll take it season by season. This season was my favorite season so far. For me, I can’t speak to nobody else ’cause some other people are getting dragged by the eyelids.”
She adds that much of why she loves this season is because she turned 40, and everything has now “clicked” for her. Wendy then says, “It’s not just my mended friendships with some of the women. It’s literally my mended friendship with myself.”
Of course, news also came out recently that Wendy has taken a new job in teaching. According to Black Enterprise Women, she has been named a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Wesleyan University. She will teach a class called The Sociology of Reality TV.
