Raquel Leviss reportedly “reached her limit” with James Kennedy while filming the Vanderpump Rules season nine reunion on Friday.
Just weeks after James’ over-the-top Coachella-themed proposal aired on the show, Raquel was seen giving “back her $100K engagement ring” as Bravo cameras rolled, reportedly leaving her friends and castmates in complete shock at the seemingly sudden split.
“Watching this season back, Raquel had already reached her limit with James’ behavior and she’s tolerated so much,” an insider told The Sun on December 6. “He promised he’d be better and he promised he’d change for her and watching the show back, she seemed to finally see how nasty he is to not just others but to her as well.”
According to the report, Raquel, 26, didn’t like the way James continuously commented on her looks, especially after she got a nose job. As fans will recall, James, 29, expressed frustration with the surgery and worried she could potentially be botched if she went under the knife again.
“Making fun of her looks and basically only appreciating her physical beauty. I think she just had her limit and realized she cannot fix him,” the source continued, confirming there was “definitely zero infidelity on either parts.”
Raquel was the “one who ended things” and she is “so ready to move on,” they added.
A separate insider mentioned that Raquel recently moved out of the apartment she and James once shared.
“She doesn’t even have anywhere to keep her stuff so it’s in public storage. But she knows she needed to move on from James for good,” the second insider explained. “Even if they got married, they would get divorced. And she didn’t want to deal with that.”
As for the events of the Pump Rules reunion, the insider went on to say that Raquel “gave [James] the ring back at the reunion,” which was quite emotional for everyone involved.
“They talk about everything there [on camera] and it’s really emotional for everyone, not just those two. But basically everyone is in tears from the cast,” the source shared, noting that the split came as a “surprise,” even to their friends.
On Sunday, just two days after the filmed split, Raquel and James confirmed their breakup with identical Instagram statements.
“After these 5 wonderful years we had together, we decided we have two different goals and made the decision to call off the engagement. We love each other very much, but we aren’t in love anymore. We want nothing but the best for each other so please keep any thoughts positive. Sending Love,” their statements read.
