Rangers Did Research On J.T. Miller, Elias Pettersson Feud And Came To One Conclusion

There was one big question the New York Rangers had to answer before trading for J.T. Miller.

The reported feud between Miller and Elias Pettersson was well known, but no one knew exactly how or why it started.

To acquire Miller, Rangers president and general manager Chris Drury had to do his homework on the veteran forward and figure out if the chaos circulating around the Vancouver Canucks was caused by him.

“We've certainly done a lot of homework on that situation and on JT,” Drury said. “We do have history with him, obviously having drafted him and being a Ranger. So we felt comfortable doing the deal. Obviously, I'm not in their dressing room or part of their organization, but wouldn't have done the deal if I didn't feel comfortable as to what he's going to bring to us on and off the ice.”

As part of his due diligence on Miller, Mollie Walker of The New York Post confirmed that Drury spoke to Trocheck, who is good friends with the newly acquired Ranger.

Miller’s situation in Vancouver remains a mystery for now, but he gets a fresh start in New York, which he desperately needs.
