Legendary NFL Coach Emerges As 'Top Option' For Raiders - suong

With the NFL offseason beginning for most teams in the league, the Las Vegas Raiders are among several franchises looking for a new head coach. Antonio Pierce was fired just a few days after the conclusion of the regular season, opening the door for the Raiders to explore their options.

The Raiders have interviewed other candidates like Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, and former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh. While these candidates could be a decent fit, they wouldn't be exactly what the team is looking for.

However, another coach that Las Vegas interviewed has now emerged as a top candidate to sign with the Raiders. According to The Athletic's Tashan Reed and Vic Tafur, former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is believed to be the team's top option right now.

"Now, the Raiders have to turn to their alternatives, and former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is believed to be the Raiders’ top option, according to league sources," wrote the NFL insiders. "Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn is also believed to be a strong candidate, but many around the league expect him to wind up with the New Orleans Saints, the team he played for and coached for, or the New York Jets, who he also played for."

Up until recently, Las Vegas was favored to land former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as their next coach. However, Johnson officially signed with the Chicago Bears instead on Monday, causing Las Vegas' search to continue.

Carroll's experience speaks for itself when it comes to being a successful head coach in the NFL. The Super Bowl Champion coach was let go by the Seahawks in 2023 after failing to make the postseason despite establishing a winning culture during his tenure. Carroll's winning mindset is exactly what the Raiders need and are looking for, which has led him to becoming the new favorite in Las Vegas.
