Raiders Skip Quarterback Position, Trade Down in NFL Mock Draft - suong

The Las Vegas Raiders traded for Geno Smith from the Seattle Seahawks earlier this month, but that hasn't stopped NFL draft gurus from speculating that the franchise could still add another quarterback in the first round.

For example, Fox Sports' Ralph Vacchiano has the Raiders trading up to No. 1 to snag Miami's Cam Ward, and CBS Sports' Josh Edwards has Las Vegas standing pat at No. 6 to take Colorado's Shedeur Sanders.

However, in Luke Easterling's latest NFL mock draft, he foresees the Raiders trading down to No. 9 to select Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty. In swapping top ten picks with the New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas adds a third-round pick and gains this year's top RB prospect.

In Rounds 2 and 3, Las Vegas adds Utah State wide receiver Jalen Royals at No. 37 overall, West Virginia offensive lineman Wyatt Milum at No. 68, and Virginia Tech cornerback Dorian Strong with pick No. 71, added from their hypothetical trade with the Saints.

Jeanty is coming off an incredible season with the Broncos, where he rushed for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns. Representatives from all 32 NFL teams came to see the 5-foot-9, 215-pound back at Boise State's Pro Day on Wednesday.

Besides acquiring Smith, the Raiders haven't made many changes to their offense this offseason. They signed 32-year-old running back Raheem Mostert to a one-year, $2.1 million contract and added depth in offensive lineman Alex Cappa, tight end Ian Thomas, and wide receiver Kyle Phillips via free agency.

Las Vegas has $51 million in available 2025 cap space and is still ironing out details for a new contract for Smith, according to NFL insider Albert Breer.
