The Las Vegas Raiders are going to have a slew of free agents to make decisions on this coming offseason, including a pair of defensive linemen in John Jenkins and Adam Butler.
Jenkins has been a starter for the Raiders for two seasons, and Butler has been a solid rotational player who picked up a lot of extra work this season after the season-ending injury to 2024 free-agent acquisition, Christian Wilkins.
But with both players set to hit the open market, and with Jenkins turning 36 in July, the Raiders will likely be in the market for a defensive lineman. Knowing that, Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report wants to see the Raiders bring in Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day in 2025.
Losing Christian Wilkins for the season obviously hurt the Raiders' plan at defensive tackle. But playing 31-year-old Adam Butler and 36-year-old John Jenkins for the majority of the snaps on the inside also meant they really only had a one-year plan.
If the defensive is going to take a step forward next year, Las Vegas needs Wilkins to come back as a dominant player and probably needs to add one more defensive tackle.
Joseph-Day is an experienced veteran who has enjoyed success as a run-stuffer with Tennessee this season. The 29-year-old isn't going to set the world on fire, but he isn't going to be a liability either.
Joseph-Day has had a strong year for the Titans while starting in 10 of 15 games. The former sixth-round pick has 2.5 sacks, three tackles for loss and six QB hits. The 2.5 sacks are just a half of a sack shy of tying his career-high.
Joseph-Day has also proven to be a big plus in the run game, earning a Pro Football Focus grade of 75.4 in that area.
With Jenkins set to turn 36, the Raiders should probably go in a different direction in 2025. Butler, on the other hand, is a strong candidate to be brought back in a rotational pass-rush role.
But even if Butler is brought back, the Raiders are going to need more. Joseph-Day will offer Las Vegas a serviceable starter who is cheap and can fill the early-down role while also offering some versatility thanks to his experience playing on the end.
