Rachel Zoe is taking official steps to end her marriage to Rodger Berman, 10 months after they announced their separation and after more than 26 years of marriage.

The 53-year-old fashion designer, stylist and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star formally filed for divorce on Monday, July 21, in Los Angeles, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.

She cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the separation and said that the couple's relationship ended on June 27, 2024, more than a year before she filed. Zoe asked to share joint legal and physical custody of their sons Skyler, 14 and Kaius, 10.

The estranged couple is not seeking spousal support and asked to separate their assets. Zoe also requested that her name be legally changed back to Rachel Zoe.

Zoe and Berman first announced their separation in September 2024 via a joint statement shared on Instagram.

"After 33 years together and 26 years married, Rodger and I have come to the mutual decision to end our marriage,” they wrote. “We are incredibly proud of the loving family we have created and our countless memories together.”

“Our number one priority has been and will always be our children. We are committed to co-parent our boys and to continue to work together within the many businesses we share,” they continued, asking for privacy as they adjusted.

Only two years prior, Zoe highlighted the strength of their bond while celebrating their 31st anniversary.

"We have done this life together and I cannot wait to see what is yet to come. Happiest anniversary to my person 🙏🏻❤️," she wrote, adding, "And yes, everyone, we met in kindergarten 😉 #thisisus."

The couple wed in 1998 after meeting seven years prior while going to school at George Washington University, according to Us Weekly.

Zoe reflected on the changes in her life in a post on Instagram for Thanksgiving 2024.

She continued, adding, “And I don’t think I’ve ever leaned on my friends or my family the way I have this year and I’m happy to say that not only am I so beyond lucky and grateful to have the two most extraordinary children on this planet that I am so lucky to call my little princes, and will always be.”

In July, Zoe addressed her decision to join the Real Housewives franchise, telling PEOPLE that it was "ridiculous" to see rumors she was "doing the show for the money."

"While building my different businesses and raising my kids over the past 10 years, I've discussed coming back to TV in different ways," she explained. "But for me to go back [on TV], it had to be when I really felt like I had a lot to share and a lot to say. Publicly, as we know, my life has shifted in many ways personally and professionally. I felt like it was the time now to sit with an amazing group of women and really talk about my new life and what that looks like."
