The Detroit Lions are in the market for an edge rusher ahead of the Nov. 5 NFL trade deadline after the season-ending injuries to Marcus Davenport and Aidan Hutchinson that have left the pass-rush shorthanded.

Recently, head coach Dan Campbell sounded fairly confident that the team would at least come away with someone to address their need, but replacing the kind of elite production Hutchinson is capable of will be next to impossible.

But one NFL analyst, Bleacher Report's Alex Kay, has cooked up a trade idea that would provide a player who can actually replace Hutchinson's production. That player is Cleveland Browns superstar edge rusher, Myles Garrett.

The Godfather-type offer has the Lions sending a 2025 first-round pick, 2026 first-round pick, and a conditional 2026 third-round pick to the Browns that becomes a second-rounder if the Lions make the Super Bowl, in exchange for Garrett.

Although the Lions would have to mortgage the future by giving up multiple Day 1 and 2 picks to acquire him, the Cleveland superstar would almost guarantee Detroit's defense finishes as one of the NFL's best in 2024. It's a risk that's likely worth taking with the Lombardi Trophy in sight and the team could even tie a conditional Day 2 pick to making the Super Bowl with Garrett in the lineup.
That is quite a haul to get Garrett, and it still might not be enough for the Browns to part with him. The Lions would almost certainly be fine with Kay's proposal, as Detroit's Super Bowl window is wide open and the team should be looking at any and all avenues to improve its chances.

Adding Garrett would be just what the doctor ordered, as he's the best pass-rusher in the NFL. He also has two years left on his deal after 2024, so the Lions would be able to pair him up with Hutchinson for multiple seasons, which is just unfair for the rest of the league. I mean, can you imagine?

It remains to be seen if the Browns would actually trade away their best player, though, but with Cleveland being a total dumpster fire at 1-6, nothing can be considered impossible if the offer is good enough.
