Phaedra Parks posts an image of herself with her two sons, Ayden Nida and Dylan Nida to her Instagram.
How Phaedra Parks is teaching sons Ayden and Dylan Nida to be entrepreneurs
Phaedra is setting her sons up for success. Not only is she demonstrating what hard work is by having so many projects of her own, but her son's nicknames have certainly set a tone for their potential. Longtime RHOA viewers know that she refers to Ayden as "the Prince" and Dylan as "Mr. President."
Phaedra spoke with Essence in January where she revealed that both Ayden and Dylan have their own businesses, which she has encouraged.
"My youngest son, you'll see on RHOA, is somewhat of a seamstress," she said of Dylan. "So he wanted some pants, and instead of having someone make them, I ordered a sewing machine off of Amazon, and I said, 'You'll learn to sew and make your own pants.' And so he learned to sew. So he's going to debut his pants line on the show."
"Oldest son, he's into cryptocurrency," she said of Ayden. "Being financially sound is very important to me. So he's worked with my wealth managers, and he invests in Bitcoin and crypto. So, it has been a great ride."
And like his younger brother, Ayden is interested in the fashion and beauty industry, Phaedra explained. "But he's also into natural haircare. He wants to develop his own haircare line because honey, he can tell you everything about your coils and your 4Cs and your 2As and all this stuff. I have no idea what he's talking about, but he can pull your strand of hair out and tell you exactly what it's lacking. So I said, 'If you're this passionate about curls, you should probably do a hair line."
Phaedra Parks opens up about how sons Dylan and Ayden are "evolving"
Having a teenager and pre-teen isn't easy, but Phaedra told Essence that she is handling it and their moods like a champion. "I've got a high school freshman, so I'm not that important anymore," she explained. "It's all about the girls. It's all about the gaming. It's all about how he's going to present himself for these little Sadie Hawkins dances. And of course, I'm not as cool, and I don't know fashion. And he knows everything."
But Dylan is a little bit easier to handle. "My tween, he's a sixth grader, so he's still in the sweet stage, but now he's obviously evolving into his own little self," she added. "So mama's not as cool anymore."
Phaedra Parks reveals her rules for parenting
But when it comes to raising her boys, Phaedra told People in 2023 that she only has three small rules for them to follow. "Be respectful of adults, yes and no ma'am all the time. My second rule is clean up behind yourself. And the last thing is be grateful," she explained.
And if they don't follow those rules, there will be consequences. "I definitely will take their phone away and follow through with that, because I worked too hard for them not to appreciate," she noted. "Of course, we have a housekeeper. But I want them to know!"
Phaedra Parks shares an update on co-parenting with Apollo Nida
Phaedra isn't doing this all on her own. She is raising her children with Apollo, who is active in the boys' lives, she revealed during a January 2024 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
"Co-parenting is going great," she said, noting that the kids are with her "full time" but Apollo takes them "for the weekends." "He likes to take them," she added.
During Married to Medicine Season 11, Episode 3, which aired in December, Phaedra, however, revealed that she doesn't like having Apollo inside of her house. "Apollo's not allowed in my house because...I don't want that energy in my house," she explained in a confessional. "We're trying to successfully coparent, and he's crazy."
Phaedra continued to open up about their relationship during the episode. "We've had our ups and downs, but I want what's best for my children," she concluded. "And at the end of the day, I'm raising young African American boys, and they need to have a relationship with their dad."
