Summer House Season 9 has offered an inside look at the tensions within Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover's relationship before their split, revealing that the couple was clashing over Paige's busy work schedule, as well as questions about the future.
On Season 9, Episode 9, Paige discussed a topic that's come up repeatedly throughout their romance: Can she really see herself moving from New York City to Charleston?
The way the Giggly Squad podcast cohost saw it, that isn't the question people should be asking — and revealed a surprising detail about her relationship's finances in the process.
Paige DeSorbo talks finances with Craig Conover pre-split
During Kyle Cooke's latest DJ event, as seen in the episode, Ciara Miller pulled Paige aside for a check-in about how she was feeling in regards to her relationship.
"Honestly," Paige began, "The more I think about this, the more anxious I get ... In true Paige and Craig fashion, I feel like I was like, Dude, you're not supportive," following Craig's most recent visit to the Summer House.
This was a sentiment that concerned Ciara.
"I don't want him stealing the shine from your tour," Ciara stated. "And sometimes, the s---t he says, or refuses to acknowledge, is giving hater boyfriend energy! Why should you have to dim your light just to make him feel comfortable? It doesn't make sense to me. Will it be like that, you know. even if you guys are married? Like, what does that look like? Is he thinking that you're gonna stop doing what you're doing? You're gonna change your plan? You're [gonna] do less tours, work less?"
But Paige revealed she thought Crag was envisioning exactly that.
"I think so," Paige admitted. "And then it's like, could I rely on you to make sure we live the same life that we live right now when I'm working? No. We wouldn't. If I stopped working, we wouldn't live the same life."
"Do you ever want to live in Charleston?" asked Ciara.
Paige was clear: No, she does not, adding that she she's been clear with him multiple times that she doesn't want to raise kids in Charleston. Plus, she claimed it didn't make sense because of their finances.
"I'm the breadwinner [in the relationship, as opposed to Craig] so why the f--k would [he] not move to me? That would just be stupid, logistically," she said.
Paige is questioning Craig's support
This wasn't the first time Paige had wondered whether Craig was as enthusiastic about her career as she would hope.
In a previous Season 9 episode, Paige revealed to Ciara that Craig had told her, "Well, on camera, obviously I'm not going to say you're way busier than me, that your s--t is bigger ... That would be negative."
This hurt Paige's feelings, she noted.
"I go, 'Like, why couldn't you have said that? Like, that is what's happening,'" she explained. "That validates my s--t!"
