ESPN's Adam Schefter claimed that was Rodgers' preferred destination after his brutal Jets release.

But the team remain committed to young quarterback JJ McCarthy.

McCarthy missed his entire rookie season last year after surgery on a torn meniscus.

Sam Darnold stepped in under center and had the best year of his career.

That earned Darnold a mega three-year $100 million deal with the Seattle Seahawks.

And Minnesota is now planning for the future with McCarthy leading the team from quarterback.

Their plan reportedly involves signing another veteran quarterback.

According to Fox Sports, the team are considering a move for Ryan Tannehill.

The 36-year-old last played for the Tennessee Titans in 2023.

He was the No. 8 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins.

Tannehill stayed in Miami until 2018 before leaving for Tennessee the following year.

He won NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2019 and was named to the Pro Bowl.

Tannehill would be a more viable backup option for the Vikings than bringing in Rodgers.

He has earned $190 million during his NFL career.

Four-time MVP Rodgers, meanwhile, has been in talks with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He reportedly spent six hours at the team's facility last Friday.

Rodgers was also linked with the New York Giants.

The team signed veteran Jameis Winston to a two-year, $8 million deal.

But they indicated they're still interested in Rodgers as their leader under center.

Minnesota surprised many last year by finishing with an impressive 14-3 record.

But they suffered a Wild Card Round loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
