Michael Kay can’t believe Yankees’ ugly offensive stretch: ‘Almost incomprehensible’ - lulu

Michael Kay’s frustrations with the Yankees, who have gone 29 straight innings without scoring a run, were palpable as he called the final out of Tuesday’s game.

The Yankees fell to the Angels, 4-0, as their losing streak reached five games.

As Paul Goldschmidt swung and missed for the final out, Kay seemed almost in disbelief over the ballclub’s offensive funk.

“When you see a lineup with this sort of talent base, it’s almost incomprehensible that they have been shut down to this extent,” Kay said.

Kay’s befuddlement over the Yankees’ current stretch seemed to mimic that of Yankees fans everywhere as the potent lineup — that ranks second in MLB in OPS (.784) — has become snake-bitten and struggled to mount anything.

The Yankees have gone 29 innings with a run crossing the plate after having the most runs scored in the American League following Saturday’s loss to the Red Sox.

The Yankees have been on a downward spiral and have not won since they beat the Royals last Thursday.

“There’s always a certain point where it’s not necessarily going your way and feel it,” Cody Bellinger said after Tuesday’s loss. “You kind of feel this extra pressure to get the job done. At the end of the day, it’s the same game, and we have good conversations. We’re gonna have good conversations, we’re gonna keep going and gonna keep playing for each other, and get out of this thing.”

The Yankees continue their series with the Angels with the third game of a four-game set on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium.
