Matt Rempe will likely be a healthy scratch during Thursday night’s game against the Detroit Red Wings.
He did not appear on the fourth line during Thursday's practice, which is a sign he won't be in the lineup.
This would mark the third time of the 2024-25 campaign that Rempe doesn't even make an appearance in the lineup as the Rangers are set to play their fourth game.
There was a lot of excitement about Rempe due to his popularity last season and his offseason training that was very well documented.
So far though, the 22-year-old has appeared in just one game and only recorded 3:40 minutes.
The trust factor with Rempe seems to just not be there yet from Rangers coach Peter Laviolette despite still making the team.
The fourth line for New York has mostly consisted of Sam Carrick, Adam Edström and Jonny Brodzinski with Rempe being the odd man out.
The fans adore him, the locker room gravitates towards him, yet he still is yet to really carve out a consistent role with the Rangers.
He is still young though and with injuries taking place during the season basically a certainty, Rempe should find time to prove himself in the lineup.
Rempe is with the Rangers and hasn’t been sent down to the AHL and it does speak volumes that he remains at the NHL level.
There are certain aspects of his individual game that Rempe needs to tweak and hopefully he’ll be able to do that effectively in his current role, or else a change may need to be made.
