MAFS' Jamie Marinos on being friends with an ex following devastating split from Dave Hand - suong

If anyone knows how to mend a broken heart it's Married At First Sight fan-favourite Jamie Marinos.

She was one half of the season's original golden couple when she married Dave Hand but following the end of the experiment the pair sadly split.

In an Instagram Q&A with her 310,000 fans, Jamie shared just how she dealt with the fallout of that relationship.

Despite wanting to remain on speaking terms, the 28-year-old shared that "going no contact" was the best way to protect herself.

"I'm that person that wants to be friends with everyone even after the worst situation," Jamie began.

"At the same time what I've learned is not having contact with that person is the best case scenario.

"You need time to heal, they need time to heal and if there's any residual feelings it makes it so much more complicated. You just can't move on."

"You need to focus on yourself and when that person is in your life it's too confusing."

Jamie said she did believe there were instances where exes could "re-enter each other's lives" after going no contact for a period of time.

Whether that was on the cards for her and ex-husband Dave remained unclear.

In a previous interview with 9Entertainment, Jamie shared that she and Dave were no longer on speaking terms.

"Unfortunately Dave and I don't speak anymore," she told 9Entertainment months after the Reunion was filmed.

The pair left Final Vows hand-in-hand but broke up just one week before the Reunion, with Jamie noticing once again that Dave wasn't "fully into her".

At the Reunion, the bride broke out in tears after becoming frustrated that Dave wasn't being transparent about his lack of feelings for her.

"I think Dave and I both really wanted to keep everything amicable and have a relationship, and I've tended to always have good relationships with everyone I've been with in the past," she said.

"Unfortunately when you have the opportunity to watch a relationship back and really see behaviour for what it is... I had to take a step back and say, 'I need to respect myself, know my worth and I don't believe everyone deserves to have access to me.'

"I can look at what I'm receiving in return from Dave and what I was receiving was a lacklustre friendship.

"Dave always had access to me even when he completely broke my heart on national television. I finally had to choose myself."
