LOVE Island spin-off Aftersun has been quietly cancelled for All Stars as Maya Jama remains in South Africa for the duration of the series.
The All Stars series promises to be a smash hit – even if Sunday nights won’t include Aftersun this time around.
The decision comes after the show was scrapped last season for similar reasons.
A TV insider said: “They didn’t have Aftersun last time either because Maya is based in South Africa for the duration of filming. Flying her back and forth to London for a short-run show just isn’t practical."
Despite the absence of Aftersun, fans can still expect plenty of juicy drama and candid post-exit chats as the action heats up.
The insider added: “Instead, like before, Maya will be interviewing dumped islanders outside the villa as they leave, which fans loved last time.
“It’s all about making things work seamlessly without compromising the main show.”
ITV have also confirmed Aftersun will not return until the Summer series.
Maya, 30, has already been spotted soaking up the South African sun as she gears up to welcome back some of the villa’s most iconic former contestants.
The new series of Love Island All Stars kicks off on Monday night and it features a stellar lineup of former islanders.
Earlier this week, Maya also gave fans a sneak peak of the actual villa during a live broadcast on This Morning.
Speaking about the new look, Maya told This Morning: “Every year we do a little bit. I mean, the kitchen's the main thing that I can see straight away that's changed, kind of like a candy floss, pink and white stripe situation, very cute!
“There's just loads of small details. I haven't had a full tour yet, I need to go and dig around everywhere but, every year I feel like it just gets better and better and just more glamorous.”
The new spin-off series will kick off on 13 January, with contestants already in South Africa and are awaiting their villa entrance.
A controversial star, a newly-single lad, a series two OG and a stunning model are all in the line-up.
The former Islanders are currently in hiding and trying to keep a low profile ahead of their All Stars debut.
But The Sun revealed the full line-up last week and it's set to be chaos with a mix of fiery characters and stunning bombshells.
