Kyle Richards Opens Up About Mauricio Dating Other People

RHOBH's Kyle Richards also shed new light on the reasons for her and Mauricio Umansky's split.

Since splitting from Mauricio Umansky in 2023, Kyle Richards has been navigating her new normal — which includes seeing him date other people.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member opened up about what it's been like for her to see photographs of her ex moving on during a recent chat with The Hollywood Reporter.

"There are stories that say I’m crying and things like that. They assume something, so they just invent it," Kyle said about the speculation that she is not handling Mauricio's new romances well. "Obviously, it’s strange to see his personal life played out all the time. Photos of him walking down the street [with other women]. But while it may be strange, we’re not together like that, so it is what it is."

The mom of four went on to explain that she discusses Mauricio's dating life with him on Season 14.

"We knew it was inevitable that it was going to come up. It was out there every day in our faces," she explained. "I knew he wouldn’t want to talk about it, but he actually brought it up on his own because he knew it was the elephant in the room. I sat there and let him talk about that. I remember thinking, 'I am really dreading this.' Because it’s going to be up again in six months [when it airs], and I don’t really feel like giving these fleeting people attention!"

A split of Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky

Kyle Richards reveals if she talks to Mauricio Umansky "in advance" about filming

Though she's an actress by nature, Kyle never wants to rehearse what she's going to talk about on RHOBH — even as she and Mauricio entered uncharted territory on Season 14.

"We've never discussed anything in advance, in all these years of doing the show, and it wasn’t any different this year," Kyle explained to the outlet about how they didn't chat about what would be off-limits for Season 14. "It was not discussed ahead of time what we were going to talk about, which is how we’ve always done it. And that’s not even a calculated decision, it’s just sort of how it happens. 'Can you shoot at this time?' And then we just show up. There have been many times where I thought, 'Why didn’t we talk about this?' But it just never works out that way. (Laughs)."

Why did Kyle Richards and Mauricio break up?

While Kyle noted that she doesn't believe in the "reality show curse," she does believe that "money and fame" played a role in the demise of her relationship.

"I don’t know if it speaks to where we are in 2025, but for me, I definitely do believe that money and fame and all that is not great for a marriage. I don’t think it is. Years ago, when we didn’t have any money, I would say, 'Well that’s ok, we can move to Vail and you can be a ski teacher. And I can be with the kids and bake cookies,'" she said before laughing. "I think if that happened for our path in life, my guess is we would not be in this situation right now."

Where do Kyle Richards and Mauricio stand today?

Kyle and Mauricio may not be together romantically anymore (though they have yet to officially file for divorce), but they are still on good terms as friends and as co-parents.

"Our relationship right now is that we’re family. We’re friends. We’re great co-parents. I think we’re both just kind of nervous and afraid of this next chapter so we’ve probably avoided it, honestly," Kyle told the publication. "We just get along and people assume that I get really angry with him. I see all these headlines: 'Kyle So Upset and So Devastated.' First of all, those sources are all made up and it’s just so annoying. Of course I have reactions to certain things, but I’ve never expressed this to people so these headlines are annoying to see."

She continued, "I kind of want to say [to Mau], 'Just so you know, I never said that' and 'This story doesn’t exist.' But I think we’re finally getting to a place where we’re OK. Obviously things have to probably change, and we’re just working through that right now."
