Summer House Season 9 is on the horizon, and it’s bound to be a summer like we’ve never seen before. In just one year, Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke have gone from engaged to strangers to Hamptons roomies. Lindsay spent the summer pregnant and with a new man. Fans can only imagine what it was like for her to run into her ex on the way to the bathroom amidst this new life phase.
Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula have always been the nucleus of Summer House, so they’d have a better read on the Carl and Lindsay of it all than anyone. I can’t imagine their stress levels entering the house with two of their closest friends being each other’s most recent exes. Ahead of the premiere, the mom and dad of Summer House are teasing what it was like.
Kyle tried to play peacemaker on Summer House
In an interview with Us Weekly, Kyle explained that he tried to smooth things over right away between Carl and Lindsay. “I was just like, ‘We need to break the ice. We can’t put this off.’ I felt the awkwardness,” Kyle explained. “I was just trying to convince him to find a moment in the kitchen where it’s just the two of them to wish Lindsay congratulations [on her pregnancy].” He also praised them both for being “good sports” for filming another season together despite their history.
After the initial weirdness, Amanda hinted that things smoothed over. “I think [Carl and Lindsay] were just happy to coexist,” Amanda said. “Once the reunion aired, they were able to close that chapter and then they both were just moving on out.” She credited the cast’s long history as friends for helping the transition. “We just have a different relationship with each other and they’re always going to have that,” she added. “So I would hope one day they can be in a room together and say hello and catch up.” What a 180 that would be from last year.
Summer House Season 9 premieres on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 9/8c on Bravo.
